Built to the room, not to a catalogue.

A family in a tight dining nook needed one table that works for four on a weeknight and ten at the holidays. Built in solid rift sawn red oak on twin panel pedestals set well inboard of the seating, so nobody straddles a leg sliding onto the banquette. A centre leaf takes it from everyday size to full holiday seating without changing what the room feels like the other 360 days of the year.

A family with two young kids wanted the table they'd still be eating at in twenty years, which meant it had to get through homework, spills and everything else in between without looking beaten up. We built it in solid hard maple, the hardest of the domestic species we work in, and finished it in Rubio Monocoat Castle Brown matched to the floors already in the room. At 94 inches there's space for the whole family and whoever else turns up, and the square tapered legs sit slightly proud of the apron so the top reads lighter than a table this size usually does.
