The Creator

Hi! I'm Ryan.

Ryan Day Woodworking was born out of a deep passion for building and creating, inspired by my father, a skilled carpenter. Growing up, I loved the time spent working on projects with him, which ignited my love for woodworking.

I've spent years balancing corporate IT work with a passion for woodworking. I transitioned to full-time furniture making, not because I wanted to quit my job, but because the demand for thoughtful, custom solutions kept growing.

My background in software development influences how I approach projects: systematic, detail-oriented, and focused on solving problems efficiently. But woodworking adds something software never could—the satisfaction of creating tangible, lasting things that improve people's daily lives.

When I'm not in the shop, I'm spending time with my two kids, taking long walks, or mountain biking. I approach furniture the same way I approach parenting: with patience, attention to detail, and a focus on building things that will last.

What Drives Our Work

Solving Problems, Not Just Building Furniture

Every project we take on starts with a challenge. Maybe your dining room has an odd corner that standard tables can't accommodate. Maybe your growing family needs creative storage solutions. Maybe you're a collector who needs proper displays. Whatever the challenge, our job is to design a solution that fits your life perfectly.

Collaboration Over Assumption

We don't tell you what you need—we listen, ask questions, and design together. The best projects happen when clients are actively involved in the process, bringing their lived experience while we bring technical expertise and craftsmanship.

Building Pieces That Last Generations

In a world of disposable furniture, we build things meant to become family heirlooms. Solid hardwood. Traditional joinery. Hand-applied finishes. Every piece is constructed to outlast trends and withstand decades of daily use.

Who We Work Best With

Our process is designed for people who:

  • Have specific spatial or functional challenges that off-the-shelf furniture can't solve
  • Value the design process and want to be involved in creating the right solution
  • Appreciate quality craftsmanship and understand that heirloom pieces require investment
  • Are patient and thoughtful about decisions that will impact their home for years
  • Want complete confidence in what they're getting before construction begins

We've worked with young families creating play spaces for kids, professionals designing home offices, collectors protecting their investments, and homeowners solving awkward layout challenges. What they all have in common is a willingness to collaborate and a desire for furniture that actually solves their problem.

Our Story

Why We Do This

Most furniture is designed for everyone, which means it's perfect for no one. I started Ryan Day Woodworking because I kept meeting people with real problems—awkward spaces, growing families, unique collections—that couldn't be solved with anything off-the-shelf. Custom furniture isn't about luxury; it's about creating solutions that actually work for how you live.

Our Approach

Modern Precision Meets Traditional Craftsmanship

We use digital 3D rendering software to design every piece before any wood is cut. You'll see photorealistic visualizations from every angle, make revisions until it's exactly right, and have complete confidence in the final result. No surprises. No guesswork.

Once the design is locked in, we build it with hand-selected hardwoods, solid joinery, and hand-applied finishes. The combination of digital precision and careful craftsmanship means you get pieces that are built right and built to last.
